Cleaning out the Freezer
As I mentioned, I'm in the process of moving. What I didn't explicitly mention is that I'm moving half way across the country. While some dry goods might make the trip, most of my accumulated food stores won't.
The biggest hurdle here is my chest freezer. Strangely, it seemed to be full of lamb. (Though, after last night's dinner, it is less so.) Angela and I went through a purge and inventory of what we had and what we could use before we left. Freezer burn had set in on numerous things. Some of those got tossed, but the freezer burnt tilapia and shrimp got tossed into a pot last night for a seafood stock. Tonight, some of that will get blended with some milk and cooked potato and carrot, have some (non-freezer-burnt) shrimp added to it, and there will be chowder.
I think what I might most regret leaving is our wide variety of sauces and condiments.
