A Classy Use for Canned Cranberry Sauce?

If you're like me, you have a can of it in your pantry.

Waiting.

Is there a use for it other than to serve it at Thanksgiving when someone invariably requests "the kind where you can still see the can ridges?"

Yes.

...and it isn't trashy, either.

At one of my favorite coffee shops (I have a list), they serve a cheese plate. On this plate, they usually have some pieces of guava paste. It is tangy and offsets creamy cheeses nicely.

It also reminded me of jellied cranberry sauce. So why not use cranberry sauce on a cheese plate?

Cut the rounded parts off, lengthwise, so you are left with a cranberry brick.Cut the rounded parts off, lengthwise, so you are left with a cranberry brick. You'll want to get rid of those ridges. Fortunately, that's easy. Just set the cylinder on its end and cut it into a brick shape. (See the handy diagram!) Then cut the brick into smaller rectangular slabs that will work nicely on a cheese tray.
