Perfect Portions

Topics:

Perfect Portions is part of the Love Food Hate Waste website. Select a number of adults and a number of children and a type of food, and it will tell you how much to make. All quantities are in grams, but they usually provide alternate measurements (how many broccoli florets, for example).

If, like me, you often make too much food, then this could be a really useful tool. Let me know what you think.

Online Conversion: Butter

Foods:

From the site: "U.S. recipes often times call for sticks of butter, and U.K. recipes call for grams. This conversion will help convert between the two."

Specific? Yes. Potentially useful, though.

Online Conversion: Volume

Automatically converts quantities from one unit of volume to another. In addition to the usual suspects, it also includes some uncommon units of volume, such as coffee spoon, shot, dram, and pinch.

Online Conversion: Weight-Volume

This is a handy tool for converting between weight and volume. Of course, this conversion is heavily dependent on the density of the food you're concerned with - a cup of salt will be a lot (about 5 times) heavier than a cup of fresh parsley. This converter allows you to choose a substance (from allspice to yeast, active dry) or enter a density. It will also give you the density of the substances listed (there are over 150 of them).
